Program Chair for Advanced Manufacturing at Ivy Tech Community College in
Evansville, IN. Advanced Manufacturing is the program where modern
manufacturing techniques are taught.
1 Nov 04: You should see my new office at home.
I gathered up a lot of stuff that was spread among three floors and combined it
into my new videography center. I have everything on shelves
directly
above my computer and monitor. I have the Tivo unit (this
records stuff onto a hard drive off of the satellite TV) hooked into the DVD
burner and a 20" flat screen TV. I also have a VCR hooked into a
combination DVD/VCR unit which is in turn also hooked into the DVD burner.
Thus I am able to copy VHS tapes onto VHS tapes or a DVD. I am also able
to copy DVD onto VHS or another DVD. Finally I am able to copy from the
Tivo onto DVD. I can rewire so that I can burn from the Tivo onto VHS
tapes but I don't plan on doing much of that.
This set-up has dramatically increased my ability to burn TV
shows onto DVD and to copy DVDs and VHS tapes onto DVD. These I am sending
over to Chris. As of today I have sent over 300 DVDs. Many of these
contain more that 1 show. I can burn DVDs while I am working on my
computer or surfing the internet.
January 2005: I sent about 525 DVDs to
Afghanistan. TV shows like SG1, WWE Raw wrestling, and movies as well as
copies of VHS tapes and DVDs. These will be left behind for the unit that
is replacing Chris's unit. Chris is also leaving behind a bunch of the
books that we sent over. Rumor has it that he is not leaving behind any
food.
