Lakeside took a limited squad to the Kettle Moraine Invite on Saturday and placed 10th among 15 teams."Beating four teams and coming
close to two others with just seven wrestlers was great,"' said coach Jason Nickels.

Lakeside ended with 81.5 team points, behind Grafton's 82 and New London's 85. Watertown won the event with 185.5 team points.

A pair of Warriors ended with second-place finishes. Eric Schilling and Marc Liechty both suffered their only loss of the day in the champion-
ship match.

"Eric and Marc wrestled great;"' said Nickels. "We were going up against some tough Division 1 schools."

Schilling lost the 130 pound title bout by a technical fall to a grappler from Waterford.

"Eric showed no fear against some tough wrestlers."' said Nickels.

Liechty also fell to a wrestler from Waterford in the title match. The senior lost by major decision.

"The guy he was up against was a brick house and was fast, but he didn't back down," said Nickels.

Jake Stewert returned to the mat for the first time since coming down with the flu and finished in third place.

The only loss for the 103 pound freshman was 5-3 decision in the semifinals.

"It was Jake's first real test this season," said Nickels. "I firmly believe had he not been coming off the flu he would have taken at least second."

Justin Koller finished in seventh place for the Warriors, while Jon Wilson and John Rhodes ended up in eighth place.

"Overall it was a good lesson for the team against some very tough competition," said Nickels.

Lakeside returns to the mat on Thursday night when they host Marshall in an important match in the conference race.
